Before we get started… check out our new Blog Hop graphic created by Patty Chenail! I just love the fresh new look! Thanks, Patty!
This month’s blog hop is all about fun folds!
If you know me, you know I love a good fun fold. I like the challenge of trying to figure out the more intricate ones as much as I love just a plain simple z-fold or gate-fold card. And, let’s face it… a quick fun fold card turns basic paper and ink into a magical keepsake.
I have done several different folds for y’all throughout the years, so I thought I would find something new to show you. So, I introduce to you the PINWHEEL POP-UP. I don’t know if it has an actual name, but that’s what I am calling it! I actually pretty much just case’d Karen Titus. LOL
While she added a bit more to her designs, I kept mine simple… because simple is what I am all about! This is the perfect card to use your 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. This pattern is from the Countryside DSP pack. The sentiments are from the Wonderful Thoughts Stamp Set (161899). This set has so many good sentiments that I had a hard time deciding.
To create the Pinwheel Pop-up, you take a 6″ x 6″ piece of DSP and score at 1-1/2″ on each side. Cut out the square at each corner. Then, bend the same corner on each flap down tot he score line. This is what creates the pinwheel effect as well as the “tab” to pull up to expose the sentiment on the inside.
The pinwheel is mounted on a 3-1/4″ piece of cardstock and the layer inside the pinwheel is 2-3/4″. I know you’ll be asking for those measurements. Go around the circle folding each flap in over the previous and just tuck that last one in under the one before it.
I thought a little more room to write a note was needed, so I made this into a full card but it isn’t necessary. You could always just write on the back.
Of course, I was having a lot of fun with the fun fold… I mean, it’s in the name after all! So, here is a peek at the other cards I made. They are all just blank on the inside with a strip of the DSP like above.
Welp, that’s all I have for you today.. time to hop on over to the next one in line!
Until next time… keep it simple, Stampers!
🙂 Joanne
Oh wow, Joanne!!! I absolutely this interactive fun-fold!!! Can’t wait to give this one a go myself though it will be hard trying to decide which DSP to showcase. xx
