My New Love

Have you ever looked at a card and said to your self… “There is no way I can do that!”  Well, I’m here to tell you that you absolutely can!

I used to think that same thing about sponging.  Have you seen how many beautiful cards use sponging of some form.  So, I took a chance… watched a lot of tutorials and tried it.  And, you know… I love it!  So simple and easy!

In fact, I loved it so much, I decided to teach my first Tips, Tricks, and Techniques class on SPONGING!

All you need is a Stampin’ Sponge and an ink pad!  That’s it…

First start by cutting your sponge into 8 wedges… gently push the big end – the crust of the wedge – into the ink pad.  Rub on to your cardstock. You may want to start off the edge of the paper and swirl your way onto it.  I swirl at first – then I rub it in.  Start light because you can always go darker.  Keep sponging until you have the color you want.

Here are the cards we created at the class.

This card uses one color – Crumb Cake.  It also used a simple mask.

This card uses two colors and a simple mask.

This one uses three colors and two masks.  See, we gradually built up to this point.

And, the final card…

This one uses three simple masks and four colors.

What do you think?  Want to try your hand at it?

Until next time… keep it simple, Stampers!

🙂  Joanne

PS – next month’s techniques class is water coloring!
