{"id":3535,"date":"2018-03-12T10:32:05","date_gmt":"2018-03-12T15:32:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/?p=3535"},"modified":"2018-03-12T08:45:17","modified_gmt":"2018-03-12T13:45:17","slug":"techniques-class","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/?p=3535","title":{"rendered":"Techniques Class"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-3537 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1168\" height=\"344\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader.jpg 1168w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader-300x88.jpg 300w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader-768x226.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/TTTheader-1024x302.jpg 1024w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1168px) 100vw, 1168px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, this week, was our second T-T-T class for the year.\u00a0 It happens generally on the first Tuesday of each month.\u00a0 for those that missed it, this month&#8217;s technique was RESIST EMBOSSING.<\/p>\n<p>I love this technique.\u00a0 Basically, you emboss an image, then you color over it.\u00a0 This causes the color of the embossing powder (or the color of the cardstock if you used Clear embossing powder) to show through the ink.\u00a0 It is a really fun technique.\u00a0 I will hopefully be able to explain it fairly well!\u00a0 If not, just google it and there are a million and one tutorials.<\/p>\n<p>So.. the first card we did was fairly simple.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-3533\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.03.37wm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"980\" height=\"1200\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.03.37wm.jpg 980w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.03.37wm-245x300.jpg 245w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.03.37wm-768x940.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.03.37wm-836x1024.jpg 836w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 980px) 100vw, 980px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I cased this card from Donna Kish but changed it up a little.\u00a0 I used CLEAR embossing powder on Whisper White paper.\u00a0 Then, I used a sponge to color over the entire layer.\u00a0 I did the flowers a bit darker&#8230;\u00a0 Just wipe with a Kleenex or paper towel to remove any ink from the embossing&#8230; and there you go!\u00a0 This card uses Calypso Coral.<\/p>\n<p>I will tell you what I think the hardest thing about this technique is not stamping over images you have already stamped.\u00a0 I had to get my face right down into the card.. it was such a sight, I&#8217;m sure!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3534\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.57wm-899x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"747\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.57wm-899x1024.jpg 899w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.57wm-264x300.jpg 264w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.57wm-768x874.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.57wm.jpg 1054w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Tip:\u00a0 Use an Embossing Buddy when doing this technique.\u00a0 You may not think you need it, but with the little splatters I have on all my cards, I should have.\u00a0 Live and learn&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Another tip&#8230; when you are heating the clear embossing powder, you may have to turn it in the light so you can tell when the powder has done it&#8217;s thing.\u00a0 If you under-heat the powder, it will rub off when you touch it much less rub a sponge over it!<\/p>\n<p>We stepped up the technique a bit on the next card.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3532\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.04.15wm-850x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"790\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.04.15wm-850x1024.jpg 850w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.04.15wm-249x300.jpg 249w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.04.15wm-768x925.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.04.15wm.jpg 996w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This card was cased from Staccie Donaldson. \u00a0\u00a0 We used GOLD embossing powder then sponge daubers to color in the images.\u00a0 The great thing about this card is that it doesn&#8217;t have to be perfect coloring in the lines.\u00a0 (And please ignore the bad sentiment embossing&#8230; that goes back to that Embossing Buddy tip!)<\/p>\n<p>Colors used on this card were Very Vanilla, Elegant Eggplant, Tempting Turquoise, Old Olive and Daffodil Delight.\u00a0 And that beautiful Gold Metallic Edge ribbon will be sticking around in the new catalog!!!\u00a0 Woohoo!!!\u00a0 (Just a hint of stuff that you know about early if you are a demonstrator!\u00a0 Interested&#8230; just email me&#8230; we can talk!)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3531\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.05.35wm-1024x768.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"492\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.05.35wm-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.05.35wm-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.05.35wm-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.05.35wm.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In this close up, you can see the benefit of EMBOSS RESIST-ing.\u00a0 It really looks like you laid down the color, then you embossed over it.\u00a0 Of course, we know the truth!<\/p>\n<p>And, the last card may be my favorite!\u00a0 It used a technique that I have never used before but watch out.. it will be showing up a bunch!<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3530\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.06.11wm-793x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"847\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.06.11wm-793x1024.jpg 793w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.06.11wm-232x300.jpg 232w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.06.11wm-768x992.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.06.11wm.jpg 929w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I cased the idea from Melanie Muenchinger.\u00a0 This card uses WHITE embossing powder and the sponge daubers.\u00a0 But, it also includes the whitewash technique which I had never done before!<\/p>\n<p>And, this is the one card I used the embossing buddy on after I had a lot of white powder all over it.\u00a0 Thankfully there are two sides to the cardstock!\u00a0 No one will ever know what is on the back!\u00a0 And, I have may or may not have used my sweatshirt sleeve to wipe the powder off the messed up side!\u00a0 I&#8217;ll never tell!<\/p>\n<p>So, whitewashing&#8230;\u00a0 Here&#8217;s how I did it.\u00a0 I squeezed a little bit of the white craft ink refill onto a clear block.\u00a0 Then I used my aqua painter to pick it up and color in the image.\u00a0 A couple of tips here&#8230;\u00a0 have a paper towel handy to keep the aqua painter from getting too wet.\u00a0 There is a fine line between too much water and not enough.\u00a0 You will figure it out once you practice.\u00a0 Use your heat tool on the low setting to help dry the white ink.\u00a0 But, then let it set for a couple seconds so the embossing hardens back up.<\/p>\n<p>After I did the whitewashing, I used the sponge daubers to color in the stems and petals.\u00a0 I didn&#8217;t put anymore ink on the Old Olive one after I used it on the last card because it still had plenty of ink in it.\u00a0 I used Blushing Bride on the petals and Daffodil Delight in the center.<\/p>\n<p>Someone asked me why whitewash before putting on the ink?<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-large wp-image-3529\" src=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.05wm-1024x911.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.05wm-1024x911.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.05wm-300x267.jpg 300w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.05wm-768x684.jpg 768w, https:\/\/keepitsimplestampers.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/03\/2018-03-07-08.07.05wm.jpg 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>If you look closely at the stem, you can see where I did not stay in the lines.\u00a0 Not a worry on this card.\u00a0 But, you can barely see the color.\u00a0 Can you imagine how much daubing it would take if you did not apply that lighter color under it.\u00a0 By doing the whitewashing, you give just a hint of color.\u00a0 It makes it look softer&#8230; almost lacey.\u00a0 Of course, you could just used the Blends or Stampin&#8217; Write Markers&#8230; but your end effect would be totally different.<\/p>\n<p>Well, that is all I have to show you today.\u00a0 Next month&#8217;s Tips, Tricks, and Techniques will be REFLECTION!\u00a0 Come out and join us in person on April 10th or check here after that day to see what we did!<\/p>\n<p>Until then&#8230;
