Something Smells Fishy

So, yesterday I showed you the cutest little Llama.  He is available in both the Annual Catalog in the Birthday Fiesta stamp set (141500) and Fa-La-La-La Friends stamp set (142167).  Well, this Llama has a Beary Best Friend…

And, he has caught something just for you!  A Christmas Cod!

I don’t know why that amuses me so much, but it does!

So, this bear was originally seen in the Occassions catalog at the beginning of 2016 but has been continued in the current Annual Catalog.  People must have loved him so much, they dressed him up for Christmas.  And, he has framelits to help cut him out!

  • Bear Hugs Stamp Set (Wood 139543 / Clear 139546)
  • Bear Hugs Framelits (140275)
  • Fa-La-La-La Friends (142167)

I know what you are thinking…  How can you live without him?  You need to get him… NOW!  I understand.  I was the same way!!!  But, you want to know something else… the Holiday Catalog offers so many cute sets, I really can’t contain myself!

Wonder what I’ll come up with for tomorrow?  I really need to get something together for Halloween to send of to Dell at Nuke School!

Oh hey… I also started a new Pinterest page… check it out!

Remember… Keep it simple, Stampers!!!

Night Magic

Last night, I was on my way from from working at the mall… Yes, I have a “fun” job.  I work at Yankee Candle in the local mall – I call it mom-time!  Best candles ever at a discount… and I use my paychecks from there to buy Stampin’ Up stuff! Well, that is what paycheck I have left after I buy candles!  Anyways…

Last night, I was driving home from work and admiring the stars.  It’s great to get away from the lights of the big  city – because that’s what Paducah, Kentucky is when you live in a town of 1400.  The stars were shining so bright.  Of course, the glow of the nearly-full moon downed out some of it… but still so pretty.

The drive inspired me so that I created this card…

2016-09-01-15-34-29wm2016-09-01-15-34-44wm

It uses the same stamp set as yesterday’s card (Star of Light photopolymer stamp set #142110), but with a whole new twist.  I used Gold Embossing Powder (#109129) to create a beautiful night sky.  I also used the Outdoor Adventures Framelits (#141480) to provide the silhouetted trees.  A little bit of Gold Metallic Thread (#138401) and there you go!!!

Okay – if you have read this far then you must really care …  It was cloudy on my way home yesterday… and I CASE’d this card from Carolyn Bennie to use in a swap I recently did.  Here is the original!

I think it came out great.  I just love that Dapper Denim!  What interesting things have you done with this stamp set or die set?

Until next time…  Joanne

10 Fridays

Do you realize that there is just over two months until Christmas Day will be upon us?  That’s great news for all of us that love the Christmas season and terrible news for those of us that have a ton of things to do between now and then.  Which camp are you in?  I am straddling the lines.  Christmas at our house means that Dell will be home from Nuke School and our best friends in the whole world will come for a visit.  But, then there is all the stress that goes along with holiday company.

But, in the stress of the holidays, you should never forget the true reason for the season.  The time of our Dear Savior’s birth!   What better way to remind people about it then to send a card made with love.  Stampin’ Up offers several scripture-based sets perfect for this.  Here is one of my favorites.

STAR OF LIGHT

2016-09-01-16-05-56wm2016-09-01-16-06-06wm

This uses the Star of Light photopolymer stamp set (142110) as well as the Starlight Thinlits dies (141840) from the 2016 Holiday Catalog.  Of course, you can save on the two by getting the Bundle (143508)!  Check them out in my online store by clicking HERE.

Also used on this card is Night of Navy, Very Vanilla and Crushed Curry card stock; Night of Navy and Crushed Curry ink; and the sparkly Wink of Stella-Clear.

Until next time…

What’s that I see?

Inspiration is everywhere.  You need only look past the need of your nose.  Today, I was reminded of that by Linda Dalke, a sister demonstrator.  She was inspired to create a card based on a pocket pack of tissues.  That reminded me of a card that I created late this summer based on a coupon we gave away at Yankee Candle.

So, I saw this and thought surely, I could create a card that looked similar to that.  I started racking my brain about which stamp set I could use to create the plumeria flower. Not sure if you can see it, but there are flowers in the background of the Margaritaville banner.  How on earth could I recreate that?  And, what colors could I use to recreate the stripes at the bottom.

Then, I remembered that Stampin’ Up came out with the Botanical Gardens suite in the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  It had the perfect flowers and leaves for the card.  I was all set.  Now to sit down and produce.  Well, that hadn’t happened.  Something about best laid plans…  🙂

Next thing I know months had flown by and I still had not created the card.  But then… the new Annual Catalog comes out and there with my beloved llama is the perfect striped paper.  Long story short… many months later, I finally create the card inspired by a coupon!  What do you think?  Did I get close?  Can you see the vision?

Not sure what will inspire me next.  I see inspiration everywhere!  Clothing, furniture, nature…  inspiration abounds.

What inspires you?

A Little Spookiness

It’s October!  And, you know what that means?  Time to get out the pumpkins and the ghosts because Halloween will be here before you know it!

To kick off that Halloween fund, here is a cute little guy form the Cookie Cutter collection in the new Holiday Catalog.  If you have not fell in love with the cookie cutter, O M G!!!  It is the cutest little set.  They have one for Halloween and one for Christmas… and a coordinating punch.

  • Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Set – Photopolymer #142043
  • Cookie Cutter Builder Punch #140396
  • SAVE with when you BUNDLE !!!  #143493
  • And, add Cookie Cutter Halloween Stamp Set – Wood #142252 or Clear #142255

Of course, this was one of the first sets I needed.  Here’s what I did with it!  And, since I’m in such a giving mood – I even included the project sheet for it.  Just right-click on the link below the picture and choose “Save As” to save it to your computer.

Proud Navy Momma!

If you are anything like me, you buy all the stuff to make  great cards.  You case Pinterest and blogs and see what everyone else is up to.  You have visions of cards running through your head each night while you sleep.  And then, nothing.  You are so busy, you don’t make the cards… you don’t send any to people.  Your stampin’ stuff is just sitting there collecting dust because life has gotten in the way.

So, I spent the past two months making cards for my boy while he was away at Naval Recruit Training Center at Great Lakes (North Chicago). I tried to send him at least one a week. Some weeks, I sent two.  I did CASE cards and I did some those fancy folds I’ve always wanted to try but never had a reason.  I know – one don’t always need a reason to make a fancy fold card…:) )

The cards above are just some of the ones I remembered to take pictures of.  I did learn that it doesn’t really take much time at all to just whip up something special.  No one knows what it looked like in your head and if the final project is anywhere near close to that.  They won’t care about anything other than YOU made a card for THEM… from your heart!!!  (I know there are some retired stuff on the cards above – sorry.. just the perfect excuse to get out that stuff.  But, look – there is new stuff too!)

Of course… there was the one card that led to a card making frenzy for new sailors.  Dell showed my cards to his division mates.  They all loved the one shown below.  Dell, the caring guy he is, told them all, and more, that I would be more than happy to make a card for each of them.  The purpose of the card was for the Sailors to send the cards back home to a school, a church, or a person that sent them special encouraging words just to say “Thank you for thinking about me!”  With such a sweet cause, how could I not.  Of course, the card they loved was one that I had CASE’d from the Artisan team and wasn’t one that just was simple stamped layers.  Oh no, it involved water coloring, multiple stamps, knot tying… But, what can I say?  I love my boy!!!  So, I made 168 cards for those Sailors.  As they were made and packaged in clear envelopes with a stamped mailing envelope and a note of encouragement from me, I said a little prayer for the Sailor and the recipient.

Of course, just because he isn’t in training anymore does not mean that I won’t still me making and sending him cards.  They may come a little less often, but they will still be sent!  And, now I can send treats!!!  And, he has a roommate!!!  Oh, let the fun begin!

But, I will be sending to more that just him and his roommate.  I pledge to you… I will be making AND mailing at least two cards every week to various people around the country – heck, around the world!!!

Oh yeah, I had to make him so treats for his graduation.  So, I baked him some of his favorites – Brownie Bites, Shortbread Bites, and Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites.  It was really just an excuse to make special packaging!  I also made two cards that were just a hair different.  Since he didn’t need both, I addressed one to a “Sailor in need of a few words of encouragement” and had Dell give it to someone who fit the bill!  I did research in making the card to match the new Dress Whites… the Box matches the Dress Blues (which are in fact, black!).. and the Seabag fits into the uniform… which is the only bag they are allowed to carry on their backs while in dress uniforms.

2016-09-21-22-12-53

And, while I am on the pledge wagon here – I also will pledge to try my hardest to make at least one blog post each week.  I have failed miserably in the past.. but this time…  Hopefully!!!

Until next time… Remember to Keep It Simple, Stampers!!!

🙂  Joanne

PS – Here is a picture of my handsome Sailor!!!  So proud of him 🙂

Hello world!

So, something about this new blog caught your eye!  I am guessing it was the title or the website.  Sealed with a KISS… Keep It Simple, Stampers!!!

How often have you been browsing the inter-webs, playing on Pinterest, etc. and run across the most beautiful card you’ve ever seen.. then you think to yourself, “Self, I could never do that.  It’s way to hard!”  Well, my goal with this website is to show you that you can.

I have been a Stampin’ Up Independent Demonstrator on and off for a few years now and have finally decided to go from a hobbyist to a real demonstrator.  It will take me a little bit to get launched, but I am looking forward to have you along for the ride!
