This month, we were presented with a color challenge! Normally, I don’t think I do very well with these, so I really don’t like them. But, I have to tell you… I love these colors. The go so well together!
Aren’t these colors just so great together. It is a color scheme I would have probably used anyway!
I created a set of cards that I will be giving to a friend’s mother. I am going to be crashing their pumpkin canning party and didn’t think I should show up empty handed!
Let’s see the cards that are in the packet!
I was inspired by quilts… actually by barn stars / barn quilts to be more precise!
I used the smallest right triangle in the Stitched Triangle dies to create the “quilted” squares.
The sentiments are from the Band Together stamp set.
Of course, I also dressed u the insides…
All the insides basically look like this. I love that little detail in the corner. It looks like the start of a quilt pattern.
Of course, you can’t have naked envelopes…
And here is a little bit closer look at the case. This sentiment is from the Best Years stamp set.
Well, I hope you liked my little quilt cards as much as I do. I can’t wait to try them in all sorts of different colors!

This month our focus is on THANK YOU cards, notes, and projects.
One of the greatest things for me to receive is a thank you card. It just tells me that whatever I did for that person, no matter how small or how big, my act was appreciated. And, do we all know how nice it is to feel appreciated.
This sweet thank you card is perfect for those who have done something special for you. And, it can be done in any color that suits your fancy.
The simple blue color scheme for this card uses Seaside Spray, Misty Moonlight, Sahara Sand, and Whisper White. But, it would look great using fall colors, Christmas colors, shades of red, even black and white!

This month, we are all about the Outdoors. For some of us, we have just entered the warm and cozy fall season, while others are entering a beautiful and bright spring time!
I happen to live on the side of the world where it is Autumn! Here, when the leaves start to fall, the deer come out to play! It’s when Nature’s Beauty is at it’s best…
In fact, here is a card featuring the Nature’s Beauty stamp set!
The color scheme for this card is Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Very Vanilla.
The cute little deer was stamped on the background layer then stamped and fussy cut from a scrap piece of Very Vanilla.
Notice how the bare bushes were also stamped on the card base to add a little more dimension… 🙂
And, you can’t forget about the inside of the card. These sweet sentiments come from the Many Mates stamp set.
It’s hard to believe, but here we are in the middle of September! Raise your hand if you are ready to get this horrible year over with! Me too! Well, with that in mind, here is to the Autumn Days ahead! This month’s edition of the Stampers Dozen Blog Hop is all about fall!
I have created a couple fall to warm those cool Autumn days.
Here is the first one.
For this card, I used the Beautiful Autumn Stamp Set form the August-December Mini Catalog. It has the cutest little coordinating Autumn Punch Pack. I based my color scheme around the strip of Plaid Tidings 6×6 Designer Series Paper so I used Early Espresso, Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler, and Whisper White. The ribbon is from the Basket Weave & Metallic Ribbon Combo Pack.
Here is my other card. This card uses the Celebration Tidings Stamp Set. This a set that comes with beautiful borders as you can tell. For this card, I created a frame around the sentiment and images that I stamped on the Very Vanilla layer using the Stitched Rectangle dies. To add a little more interest, I used the Autumn Punch Pack and coordinating stamps from the Beautiful Autumn stamp set.

Hello and welcome to this edition of the Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop – a gathering of creative minds from around the world! You are currently visiting me, Joanne Cantrell! I live in a teeny tiny town nearly smack dab in the middle of the United States!
The theme of this month’s hop is cards and projects for kids and babies.
The card I have for you today is one that I created for a recent card swap that I participated in. I think it would be perfect for a kid of any age! Let’s take a look!
I was inspired by a card created by Lisa Ann Bernard. This card features the Zoo Globe Stamp Set. I love the little animals that this set includes. Especially the elephant, but I didn’t even use him on this card.
Let’s see what I did use…
It appears I used all the other animals except the elephant!
I did the coloring with a variety of Stampin’ Blends and Stampin’ Write Markers. And, used the Balloon Bouquet Punch for the balloons in the corner. I thought they went well with the ones in the giraffe’s mouth!
This is a simple fancy fold card. The basic instruction is to cut the card base 5-1/2″ x 11″. Then score at 4-1/4″ and 2-1/8″. Then you turn the card in your trimmer and shave off the corner.

Welcome to the August edition of the Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop!
This month, it’s all about the new 2020 August-December Mini Catalog (formerly known as the Holiday Catalog). Once again, Stampin’ Up! has outdone themselves! You will want to get your hands on a copy of this as soon as possible!
I decided just to focus on teeny tiny little bundle that packs a big punch! (That’s a hint! 😉 )
Introducing the BANNER YEAR BUNDLE (155214).
This bundle includes the BANNER YEAR PHOTOPOLYMER STAMP SET (153464) and the BANNER PICK A PUNCH (153608). As you can see, the stamp set includes a variety of small greetings along with cute little graphics to accompany them. The punch… oh boy… the punch! You can create six different banners with them (1″, 3/4″, and 1/2″ in point and notch). Or, you can create an arrow by punching the point on one end and the notch in the other… so it really makes 9 different banners!!! Just sayin’!

Here is what you have been wanting… pictures of my projects. Hopefully you will not be disappointed!
This is the card that started it all! It was a card I created for a card swap group I was in. The color scheme is Basic Black, Whisper White, Pumpkin Pie, Gorgeous Grape, and Granny Apple Green. I embossed the Boos using white embossing powder and the heat gun. The banners are 1″ and 3/4″. BONUS: This card also features the Cobwebs 3D Embossing Folder and the spider die from the Little Treat Box Dies, both of which are in the new catalog.
Oh – bigger bonus… I have a tutorial you can download for this card. It comes with a useful template you can use to layout the banners… which is why all my banner-ing looks the same on most of the cards!
This card features the returning Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper. I went with the Real Red and Very Vanilla stripes and buffalo check patterns. This card only uses two patterns and not three, but I used the template. I added some Real Red 3/8″ Double Stitched Satin Ribbon and fussy cut the bird (stamped in stamped-off Crumb Cake ink) and the Santa hat (stamped in Real Red).
Another Christmas Card with a Bonus sneak peek! The color scheme for this card is from the Trimming the Town Designer Series Paper found in the new catalog. It’s Misty Moonlight, Poppy Parade, Pool Party, and Old Olive. For this card, I again used the template, but all the banners are 1″ to give it a bit different look.
I hesitated showing you this card. I thought I’d try something a little different and out of my comfort zone. I stamped the sentiment on ribbon. I used Mossy Meadow ink to stamp “be merry” sentiment all over the Whisper White Ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon Combo Pack from the Annual Catalog. As you can see, the ink ran. Maybe I should have set it with the heat gun? Maybe I just should have used Stazon ink? What do you suggest?
But, that’s the reason I didn’t want to show you the card. So, why did I? Because I wanted you to see that gorgeous Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder. I also thought the monochromatic color scheme (Mossy Meadow, Old Olive, and Pear Pizzazz) was kind of cool! I guess the pros outweighed the cons… because here it is!
This is the last Christmas Card, I promise… Sorry, there are no bonus sneak peeks and I didn’t use the template. It’s really pretty basic but looks so beautiful if I do say so myself! I used the pointy end punch and cut the banners from 3/4″ strips. I used my grid paper to line them up.
Oh, how about a tip… To make the banners small while still having enough to slide into the punch, I cut a 1″ x 8-1/2″ strip of cardstock (in this case, a 3/4″ strip). Then I punched one end – flipped it over and punched the other end. I cut a 2″ banner from each end using the paper trimmer. Then, I cut down the leftover strip to 3/4″ wide. I punched each end and cut it into two 2″ banners.
Here is a fall card! This gives you a sneak peek at the Autumn Punch Pack, the Gilded Autumn Specialty Designer Series Paper, and the Brushed Metallic Cardstock. My color scheme also included Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Very Vanilla, and Gold Embossing Powder. I cut the ends of the sentiment banner with the pointed end of the punch.
Oh… a Valentine’s Day card! My color scheme here is Whisper White, Poppy Parade, and Blushing Bride. Those banners with the hearts… it’s just stamping the little heart randomly on the punched banners in Poppy Parade and Blushing Bride ink.
Well… well… what’s this? This is the reason you need this bundle… at the very least, the punch. This card features the Timeless Tulip bundle from the Annual Catalog along with the Banner Pick a Punch. It shows how easy it is to use this new punch with stuff you may already have, or products you can find in the 2020-2021 Annual Catalog. In case you wondered… the color scheme used on this card is Magenta Madness, Granny Apple Green and Daffodil Delight.

Welcome to the July 2020 Ink & Inspiration Blog Hop. You have stopped here in Southern Illinois, smack dab in the middle of the United States. You didn’t know you were such a world traveler… did you!?!
This month, demonstrators all around the world have been drooling over the items in the new – hot off the presses – 2020 Holiday Catalog! The IIBH Crew decided to give you a taste of the wonderfulness that Stampin’ Up! will soon unleash onto the world stage!
I did a little playing with the gorgeous Toile Tidings Designer Series Paper which is making an encore appearance in this new catalog.
This first card features the Christmas Gleaming stamp set which is also a returning favorite. I added a little extra oomph using the rectangle die from the Nature’s Thought die set and one of the rectangles from the Stitched So Sweetly die set.
Since the two rectangles didn’t layer quite right, I used the Real Red Double Stitched Satin Ribbon to cover the empty space. I used Real Red and Garden Green Stampin’ Write Markers to color the holly sprig then fussy cut it.
This card uses the mosaic technique with the Tailored Tag Punch. I was careful about how I punched them out and placed them on the card so that the pattern stayed lined up.
TIP: I let the tag edges hang over the edge when I glued (I used TomBow) them down. Then I used my Paper Snips to trim them off.
I used the Merry Moose Stamp Set as well as the coordinating Moose Punch to add a little more pizzazz.
I hope these cards give you a little inspiration to get a Christmas groove going.

This month’s theme for the Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop is one of my favorites… Red, White, and Blue! I love everything Americana!!!
This week, I said phooey to quarantine, got my negative Covid results and ran away to Maine! To me, there are fewer places in the United States that ooze Americana than New England… our original colonies!
We came here for my son’s first reenlistment in the Navy. He had his ceremonyat a rocky cove in Kennebunkport.
I’m one proud momma!
Here is the card I made him for this occasion.
This RWB card is a color scheme of Cherry Cobbler, Whisper White, and Night of Navy and features the Arrange a Wreath Bundle. The Buffalo Check background pulls it all together!
Now, what would a trip to Maine be without seeing a light house? This one is my favorite. It’s Nubble Lighthouse in York.
Not sure what’s prettier… The lighthouse or Betty!
Lighthouses bring a homey comfort to me. So, here is the card that Nubble inspired…
This card again uses the same color scheme as above. A little Country Home stamping and Tin Tile embossing, and presto chango… You have a very Americana card!
Now, for the last card… I took a bit of departure! As red, white, and blue is not a strictly American color scheme, I have taken a bit of a risk… Today is one of my favorite days of the year. It’s highly important in my life. And highly celebrated in France!
For me, it’s my birthday! And in France, it’s Bastille Day! A holiday that celebrated with fireworks and festivies… much like our Independence Day.
Here is my Bastille Day card!
I know, I know… I used a retired die for this one. Sorry, but it really was required! Don’t you agree!?! This color scheme is Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy. The sentiment was stamped using Well Said and Make a Difference.

Yep, that’s little Successful Sammy – the world famous meme baby. Of course he’s almost a teenager now, but the point is… SCORE!
Have you guessed it?
My favorite tool is the SCOREBOARD!
It’s really great when you need to keep score.
Oh… yeah… it’s not that type of scoreboard. It’s the best type. The type you can use to score your Stampin’ Up! cardstocks and designer series papers. Technically it’s called SIMPLY SCORED (#122334) and is a great low cost investment.
Let’s be honest. How many of you use your Paper Trimmer to score your cards. That really is a great tool to have as well. But, the Simply Scored Scoreboard is really for so much more.
How much more?
Let me show you a few of my favorite uses beyond the scoring of a card fold.
#1. BOXES
This tool is perfect for creating all types of boxes. You can score whole pieces of DSP because this board is just over 12″ x 12″
Here are a few of the boxes I have created with it.
This box was inspired by Sam Drummond. It was made with Seafoam Spray and Whisper White Cardstock. The images are from the Basket of Blooms Stamp Set and stamped in Seaside Spray, Sahara Sand, and Misty Moonlight. The flowers were punched out use the Small Blossom Punch.
This is just your basic box and lid. Here, I used Pretty Peacock and Crumb Cake. I didn’t do any stamping on the box at all. I added interest by tying a length of the Pretty Peacock 1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon round the lid. I added the bow separately.
How about this cute little Hershey Nugget Holder? It holds 10 Nuggets. For this fun, primary colored box, I chose Pacific Point, Real Red, and Daffodil Delight as my color scheme. The images and sentiment are from the new Zoo Globe Stamp Set. and, I used the Balloon Bouquet punch and Linen Thread for the balloons.
The great thing about the Simply Scored tool is that you can score a full sheet of DSP to create a gorgeous box that doesn’t need any stamping or anything. For this Ornate Garden inspired box, I just added a some ribbon and a rosette.
Speaking of Rosettes…
#2. ROSETTES
The Simply Scored tool is the best for making rosettes to any size because there are score tracks every 1/8″ for 12 inches! That’s a lot of scoring. And, the little scoring pen it comes with had two ends – a bigger ball for lighter weight papers like DSP and a smaller ball for heavier weight papers like cardstock. This allows you to create sharp score lines without tearing through the paper.
In addition to the rosette above, I created this fun lollipop to accompany the Nugget Box.
For this rosette, I actually scored then layered three different widths of cardstock. Then, I used a thin line of Tombow to attach them together along the top edge. And, a hot glue gun is a must for rosettes as that it what helps hold it flat and works faster than Tombow.
#3. BANNERS
This is such a basic use for this scoreboard.. but one that may have escaped you until now. When used in tandem with the Banner Triple Punch, you can create all types of sentiment banners with great 3D effects.
Here is a simply banner I created.
I took a strip of Whisper White and stamped by sentiment on it. Then, I notched the ends using the Banner Triple Punch and took it to the scoreboard to do what… SCORE!!!
To make the banner pop up, you will need to make two score lines on both sides of the banner between the sentiment and the notch. For farther apart the score lines are, the higher the banner will be. For this one, my score lines are only 1/8″ apart.
While you can see I have not made anything with this banner yet, it will be attached using Dimensionals. The higher it sits, the more Dimensionals you may have to stack on top of each other to keep it lifted.
#4. TEXTURE
This tool is great at adding linear interest to card layers and card fronts. The possibilities are limitless. You can make plaids, argyles, lattices, stripes, diamonds, etc… You can make frames, backgrounds, and focal pieces.
See… look what I have done for you…
This is a Simply Scored Simple Stamping card! I just scored three lines down the side of the card front 1/8″ apart. The stamps used are from the new Fancy Phrases Stamp Set.
For this one, I scored diagonals 3/4″ apart then placed a Pearl Basic Jewel in nearly every crossing. And, the sentiment is actually hiding a place where I messed up the scoring when I put too much space between the lines. See, mistakes are actually places for embellishments! I also scored the white layer to create a frame.
Oh – here is the other banner I created! But, more importantly, look at all that cross hatching. I scored every 1/4″ along both the LONG and the SHORT side. It adds a prefect tiled look, don’t you think?
I have some other scored layers that I haven’t used yet. I was just having fun created scored layers from some of my scraps!
#5. FUN FOLDS
One of the best uses for this scoreboard is to make fancy fold cards and gift card holders. Because there is nothing better than giving someone a fancy shmancy birthday card or slipping a loaded gift card into a neat-o holder!
Let’s take a look at a double pocket card…
This was created using one sheet of Terracotta Tile cardstock and one piece of 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper. I’m not sure what I am going to slip into the pockets yet, but it will be something good, I promise that.
I took the design a little step further and actually created a card out of it but forgot to take a photo of the inside. To do this, I used a thin line of Tombow on the pock layers to secure them.
This shows the cardstock after it has been scored and cut and ready to glue. It also shows you my sneaky trick to scoring diagonally. I use a 6″ right triangle that I cut from the cardboard that comes with the foil sheets. I have added tick marks at the score lines so I know where they are.
Well, I hope these ideas encourage you to take another look at that tool that has been sitting unused on your crafting table for such a long time. It’s lonely and you need to give it a little love.

Woohoo! Welcome to June! This year is half over. Can you believe it? Aren’t you glad. Oh my… what a year it has been!
Well, this month’s theme for the Stamper’s Dozen Blog Hop is all about the men in our lives.
While I have a great husband and two wonderful sons… the first man in this girl’s life was her daddy!
This was our family back in July 1971. That’s me asleep in my Mother’s arms. We were getting ready to move to Iceland.
From even before that day, he was my hero…
I was a Daddy’s girl. I pretty much still am. He taught me how to use a drill and change a tire. He taught me a lot about computers and helped me with my math homework. I still call him when I need help. And, he is my go-to person when it comes to booking a cruise!
He’s a great guy and I love him more than he could ever imagine. And, this is a card made just for him… for Father’s Day.
You may have noticed that this card was made with some of the new great products from the new 2020-2021 Annual Catalog.
The color scheme uses Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, and what may be my new favorite color… Misty Moonlight.
The layers were cut using the new Best Plaid dies. I cut the stripes in two different colors to add a bit more texture.
The sentiments are from the Best Year stamp set – which happens to come bundled with the Best Plaid dies for a discount! It full of great sentiments for both the outside and the inside of cards for all occasions any time of the year.
I thought the inside was a bit blank with just the layers and the sentiment, so I added 1/8″ stripes in the same colors as the plaid on front.
Now, a little tip about punching that banner. The bottom layer is 1-1/2″ which fits perfect in the Banner Triple Punch, but the Vanilla layer that the sentiment is on is 1-1/4″ wide. That is an in-between size for the punch.
So, I dabbed a little bit of SEAL (the new adhesive from SU!) to the back of the layer at the bottom. It takes just a smidge. Then, attach it to the other layer. Slide it the whole way into the punch making sure the layers are straight. Then, punch. When you punch the layers, you are also punching off the bit that is adhered together. You layers are now separate so you can make the perfect border around the sentiment.
Who knew? Right!
